Entry Level Background Investigator

CACI (promoted by Lensa) is hiring an Entry Level Background Investigator to support federal background investigations that protect national security. The role conducts interviews and records reviews to resolve case issues and produce accurate investigative outcomes. Work is full-time with virtual training and primarily VTC-based interviewing.

• Conduct comprehensive interviews with subjects, employers, associates, references, and other knowledgeable individuals using VTC (primary), phone, and in-person methods.
• Review appropriate records and documentation to obtain and verify relevant facts.
• Resolve all material issues within assigned cases to establish background, reputation, character, suitability, and qualifications.
• Use multiple electronic tools and systems simultaneously to maintain workflow efficiency and productivity.
• Complete multiweek intensive virtual training, plus shadowing and mentorship with an experienced investigator.
• Travel locally as required and potentially complete temporary duty assignments (typically about 2 weeks) across the U.S.

• Bachelor’s degree OR 4 years of general experience demonstrating progressive responsibility in problem solving, planning/organizing work, and effective written and oral communication.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable determination based on a T5 Investigation; minimum clearance required to start: Top Secret.
• Strong integrity, mission focus supporting national security initiatives, and professional judgment.
• Ability to navigate and utilize multiple technology systems simultaneously.
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including communicating sensitive information, active listening, and producing clear, grammatically correct written material.
• Current driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and willingness to travel locally depending on assignment location.
• Home office with reliable high-speed internet (internet stipend provided).
• Ability to sit, type, stand, or walk for extended periods.
• Nice to have: Active Top-Secret clearance based on a T5.
