Summary
QI COLLECTIVE is hiring a Full-Time Design Assistant to support women’s wear design and product development from concept through samples and launch readiness. The role focuses on design execution, tech pack building, fittings support, print/detail tracking, and ensuring production-ready deliverables that match brand standards.
What you'll do
- Support seasonal and in-season range planning, including capsule/SKU support, category balancing, and hero vs. support pieces.
- Maintain organized style trackers covering style status, fabric allocation, print placement, and approvals.
- Organize and allocate fabric kits across the collection, including swatch tracking, comments, and updates.
- Build and update tech packs including flats, measurements, construction callouts, BOMs, and trim placement.
- Maintain strong version control so internal teams and vendors use the latest documents.
- Translate fitting outcomes into clear updates for vendors/factories and update tech packs and trackers accordingly.
- Attend fittings as needed and support preparation (samples, reference images, notes), take notes, distribute recaps, and track revisions from proto to SMS to final approvals.
- Coordinate print development workflows including placement files, strike-offs, comments, and approval status.
- Track detail development for special trims, embellishment, and novelty construction, keeping records organized.
- Support launch readiness with style sheets, key details, reference images, and line sheet support.
- Assist with photo prep by ensuring sample readiness, organizing styling support materials, and capturing shot-list notes and detail callouts.
- Help organize product assets for e-commerce workflows including product naming support, fabric descriptions, and feature callouts.
- Support process consistency using templates, trackers, and handoff documents; help build repeatable tools and systems (standard trackers, file organization).
Requirements
- 1–3+ years of experience as a design assistant and/or in product development support (women’s wear preferred).
- Strong understanding of garment construction and the product development workflow.
- Ability to create and update tech packs while managing multiple styles at once.
- Proficiency with Google Sheets and/or Excel; Adobe Illustrator preferred (or similar flats tool).
- Clear communication, strong follow-through, and comfort with fast feedback loops.
- Detail-oriented with good taste and respect for design intent.
- Traits for success include being highly organized, self-starting, fast with updates, production-minded while design-sensitive, and comfortable shifting between creative tasks and admin precision.
- Nice-to-haves: experience supporting e-commerce launches or photo prep; familiarity with vendor/factory communication and sample tracking; interest in building workflows and templates.
Conditions
- Full-time schedule.
- Hybrid role with on-site fittings as needed.
- Reports to the Design Director and Lead Fit Technician.
- Works closely with Product Development, Production, Merchandising/E-commerce, Photo team, and external vendors/factories.
