Summary

JTS is hiring a Painter in Abilene to prepare and paint assembled sheet metal enclosures using an HVLP spray gun. The role focuses on high-quality finishing, surface preparation, and inspection to ensure products are blemish-free before shipment.

What you'll do

  • Paint assembled units using an HVLP/HLVP spray gun
  • Prepare surfaces by caulking, sanding, taping, filing, grinding, and smoothing welded/assembled areas using hand and power tools
  • Spray prepared surfaces with specified primers and finish coatings
  • Monitor painting operations for flaws (e.g., blisters, streaks) and correct root causes
  • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers/power equipment using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths
  • Move structures between areas using heavy machinery as needed
  • Manage time, tasks, and workflows independently with limited supervision
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment

Requirements

  • Education

    • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)

  • Experience

    • 1–2 years of relevant painting experience (required); 3–5 years preferred
    • Production/metal fabrication facility painting experience (highly desired)
    • Experience using HVLP spray guns

  • Skills & abilities

    • Strong attention to detail
    • Ability to keep hand/arm steady while painting
    • Ability to work in a heavy manufacturing environment (standing/stooping/kneeling/crouching) for 8–10 hour days
    • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs
    • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Screening

    • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
