Summary
Bisnow, a leading B2B media platform for the commercial real estate industry, is hiring a Denver-based Freelance Reporter. The role focuses on covering Denver CRE news through frequent articles, daily briefs, and event coverage while building sources and contributing to larger newsroom projects.
What you'll do
Write 3–5 articles per week of varying lengths and types and produce daily morning briefs.
Cover breaking news and enterprise stories within Denver’s commercial real estate industry.
Work a beat across the Denver metro area to report on trends, personalities, deals, and industry developments.
Develop and maintain relationships with leads and sources; translate complex/arcane data into useful and engaging reporting.
Maintain strong knowledge of Denver CRE players, deals, and key events.
Collaborate with global news teams on major projects and national series.
Coordinate with local event producers and sales representatives to assist with event content (while operating within the newsroom’s separation from sales influence).
Attend and cover Denver-based Bisnow events (typically about one per month).
Requirements
Strong writing skills and excellent news judgment.
Digital publishing experience; ideally 2+ years of business journalism experience.
Self-starter mindset; thoughtful and articulate writer interested in developing a voice and personal journalistic brand.
Commitment to diverse stories and sourcing.
Ability to travel around the Denver area and availability to attend/cover Bisnow-hosted events.
Nice to have: knowledge of commercial real estate, urban/community planning, urban design, and/or contacts in those areas.
Must be currently authorized to work in the United States; no employment sponsorship provided.
Conditions
Location: Denver-based remote role (no office requirement), with local travel required.
Freelance position with steady work under a monthly retainer model providing consistent income.
Paid vacation.
Must attend Denver-based events (typically 1 per month).
