Electronics Hardware Systems Engineer

Summary

ZeroAvia is seeking an Electronics Hardware Systems Engineer to architect and integrate reliable monitoring and mixed-signal electronics for aerospace applications. The role involves designing electronic hardware, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with DO-254 standards and aerospace best practices. You will own the design throughout the development cycle and support system-level functionality and safety objectives.

What you'll do

  • Architect and integrate reliable monitoring and mixed-signal electronics, including requirement elicitation and generation of derived requirements
  • Collaborate with external suppliers on detailed design and manufacturing of electronic hardware, ensuring component selection and adherence to design standards
  • Work with Fuel Cell Systems, Mechanical, Software teams and stakeholders to support HW circuit card design integration
  • Own designs throughout development cycle, produce documentation for reviews, and drive follow-up activities with stakeholders
  • Support DO-254 compliance activities including documentation, traceability, verification, and validation processes
  • Produce and review design documentation to ensure traceability, compliance, and configuration control
  • Maintain and drive continuous improvement of engineering and design standards aligned with aerospace best practices

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent professional experience in hardware electronics design
  • 5+ years airborne hardware electronics development experience
  • Strong understanding of mixed signal circuit design and monitoring circuits
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety (creepage, clearance, insulation requirements)
  • Strong skills in designing and implementing data acquisition systems
  • Experience with SPICE-based simulation tools for circuit modeling and validation
  • Proven experience integrating electronics hardware with microcontrollers and digital signal processing
  • Strong understanding of qualification and environmental requirements (EMC testing)
  • Desired: Master's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering, fuel cell or battery management systems experience, physical implementation of RS485/Ethernet/CAN interfaces, DOA experience, aerospace certification knowledge (CS-25/CS-23, DO-254, AMC 20-152A), IEC 60664/DO-160/MIL-STD-810 experience, LTSpice or Simetrix modeling experience
