Software Engineer, New Grad (Recent 2025 Grads)

Summary

SmithRx is a venture-backed Health-Tech company building a next-generation pharmacy benefits management (PBM) platform to improve cost savings, clinical services, and customer experience. As a Software Engineer (New Grad) on the Drug Access team, you will help build and maintain full-stack features and backend drug data systems across the SmithRx product suite. The role supports the full engineering lifecycle, from implementation and testing to production support and continuous improvement.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain product features across backend and frontend codebases using technologies such as Go, GraphQL, SQL, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and Java.
  • Collaborate with technical leads to understand functional and technical requirements and deliver high-quality, scalable software.
  • Apply software development best practices, design patterns, and modern tooling across projects.
  • Extend platform capabilities using frameworks such as GraphQL, React, and GORM.
  • Learn and use AWS services at production scale (including Lambda and Fargate) for job execution and batch processing.
  • Ensure features are tested end-to-end, maintain high code coverage, and are thoroughly documented.
  • Troubleshoot and support production issues through triage, impact assessment, mitigation, and root cause analysis.
  • Contribute to a collaborative learning culture via code reviews and exploration of new technologies.
  • Identify and share AI tools/approaches to improve software delivery speed and quality.

Requirements

  • Education: BS in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience: Recent college graduate or less than 2 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Nice to have: Participation in coding competitions or fully released independent projects.
  • Languages: Experience with a compiled language such as Go, Java, C#, or C++ (Go strongly preferred).
  • Databases: Ability to write effective relational database queries; familiarity with PostgreSQL and basic schema design.
  • APIs: Understanding of scalable API design/implementation, design patterns, and testing best practices.
  • Cloud/DevOps: Basic understanding of GraphQL APIs, CI/CD pipelines, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • AI: Experience using GenAI tools is a plus; understanding AI pitfalls and limitations is required.
  • Soft skills: Positive, team-first attitude and flexibility in ambiguous environments.
