Senior PHP Engineer

N-iX is seeking a Senior PHP Engineer to join a long-term web-based SaaS project focused on automating tax recovery processes for European markets. The role involves maintaining and enhancing an existing VAT automation platform while developing reliable, scalable backend code in a distributed, Agile team environment.

• Maintain and enhance an existing VAT automation platform
• Develop reliable, reusable, and scalable backend code
• Collaborate with a distributed team following Agile (SCRUM) methodologies
• Optimize system performance and help reduce technical debt
• Work with APIs and automate processes to improve efficiency

• Minimum 5 years of commercial PHP experience with strong Laravel expertise
• Deep understanding of OOP principles and design patterns
• Experience with YAML, XML, and integration with third-party APIs
• Comfortable with LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
• Proficient in Git or equivalent version control
• Agile/SCRUM experience
• Upper-intermediate English for business communication
• Soft skills: collaborative, proactive, responsible, and effective communicator
• Nice to have: Frontend development with JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS; Experience with caching, observability tools, or performance tuning
