Summary
KIND (Mars Health & Wellness) is hiring a Fruit Sourcing Lead in Global Procurement to develop and execute sourcing strategies for fruit ingredients supporting brands including Trü Frü, KIND, and Nature’s Bakery. The role partners cross-functionally and with suppliers to ensure continuity of supply, manage risk, drive cost/value initiatives, and support innovation across the value chain.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute integrated buying strategies for fruit products (e.g., IQF, dried/freeze-dried, fruit pastes) to meet cost, cash, quality, and service targets.
- Collaborate with suppliers and external manufacturing partners to manage inbound supply for production (forecasts, order tracking, pricing).
- Apply strategic sourcing methodology to define procurement strategy and select key suppliers.
- Lead cost reduction initiatives and optimize inbound supply chain and fit-for-purpose material specifications.
- Analyze commodity and economic markets to assess supply/demand, identify risks/opportunities, and adjust buying plans and price risk management approaches.
- Provide cyclical estimates and updates on buying performance versus prior cycles, budget, and market conditions (e.g., in Commodity Buying Forum).
- Deliver cash improvements via supplier payment terms and supplier financing where appropriate.
- Drive continuous improvement in material quality, specification management, and supplier logistics performance.
- Represent Procurement in activity team meetings and provide timely, accurate information to support innovation.
- Influence external environment for competitive advantage and industry benefit; scout new materials, origins, and opportunities.
- Make contract recommendations for commodities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Food Science, or Engineering; MBA/MS is a plus.
- 5–7 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in a Fortune 500 procurement organization (or equivalent).
- Experience with agricultural ingredients and commodities.
- Experience managing suppliers through Supplier Performance/Relationship Management programs (SPM/SRM).
- Prior experience in vendor qualification programs and supplier-led innovation.
- Proven ability to build and execute 2–5 year strategies and deliver year-over-year cost savings with a cost-savings pipeline.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills (notably with R&D, Operations, and manufacturing sites) and effective communication.
- Highly analytical; proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; strong PowerPoint skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and sometimes ambiguous environment.
- Demonstrated ethics, trustworthiness, curiosity, and problem-solving mindset; passion for sustainability and wellness.
Conditions
- Base salary range posted: $125,000–$155,000 annually (varies by location and factors such as experience and skills).
