Manager, Event Operations

Summary

San Diego Padres is hiring a Manager, Event Operations to help execute and fulfill operational needs for all Petco Park events, including Padres home games and large-scale non-baseball events such as concerts. The role leads event staffing and on-site operational readiness to ensure safe, accurate, and high-quality event execution.

What you'll do

  • Execute and fulfill operational requirements for baseball events (Homestand Production Notes) and non-baseball events (Event Orders) from inception through completion.
  • Manage Event Crew and Ball Girls for Padres games and non-baseball events.
  • Conduct pre-event briefings for Event Crew and Event Medical prior to games and events.
  • Assist with promotional item distribution, including gate allocation and inventory management.
  • Serve as liaison for Corporate Partner activation communications to ensure seamless collaboration.
  • Support internal/community events (e.g., blood drives, High School Home Run Derby & All-Star Game, Turkey Drive).
  • Manage in-house sign printing and related inventory.
  • Manage large-scale signage projects ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
  • Ensure event spaces meet client/guest expectations and remain safe; identify and help remove safety hazards.
  • Manage the Padres Reserves Program in partnership with People & Culture.
  • Schedule event personnel (Ball Girls, Event Crew, Event Nurses & Physicians) for internal/external/non-baseball events.
  • Participate in annual budget, strategic planning, and performance objectives for the Event Operations department.
  • Manage Event Staff uniform inventory in conjunction with Guest Experience.
  • Develop, present, and maintain Event Operations training and orientation programs; provide day-to-day guidance to Event Crew.
  • Write and deliver employee performance evaluations (mid-season and end of season/year).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment.
  • 4-year Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Operations, Event Management, or closely related field.
  • Minimum 2–4 years supervisory experience in a sports or entertainment facility, emphasizing Operations, Guest Services, and Crowd Management/Safety.
  • Demonstrated success recruiting, selecting, supervising, evaluating, and training part-time employees.
  • Proven track record managing large-scale events (concerts, sporting events, and/or other large public gatherings).
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic office equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; collaborative working style.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills; ability to multi-task and meet strict deadlines.
  • Professional demeanor with discretion, integrity, and accountability; punctual and reliable attendance.
  • Fluently bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Physical ability to access various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods and lift/transport up to 25 pounds.
  • Must successfully complete post-offer, pre-employment requirements including a background check.

  • Full-time, exempt role.
