Summary
Scholastic is seeking a Junior Designer to join the Trade Art Department to support day-to-day design operations for book titles. The role partners with editorial, production, marketing, sales, and freelancers to move projects from design through proofing and release.
What you'll do
- Manage design and production for a limited number of titles per year in collaboration with art department leadership
- Route passes to Editorial and Production and coordinate feedback loops
- Scan art and relay notes to illustrators and designers
- Help identify and source illustrators who fit manuscripts and market needs
- Pre-flight releases and release final files
- Coordinate with freelance designers
- Support reprint edits and assist with building project schedules as needed
- Support coding invoices as needed
- Build presentations for Launch, Sales Conference, Catalog, and Art Management
- Manage outside purchases end-to-end
- Manage the proof process for select titles
- Respond to timely requests from Marketing and Sales
- Attend bi-weekly production status meetings and weekly staff meetings
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree
Conditions
Location: New York City (SoHo office)
Schedule: Full-time; encouraged minimum of 2 days per week in-office (some teams may require more)
