Her Campus Media is a Gen Z-focused media and marketing ecosystem with multiple youth-centric brands. They are hiring a part-time Social Video Editor to create and optimize social-first video content across their portfolio, primarily using mobile editing apps while supporting higher-end edits in Premiere Pro.
What you'll do
Edit engaging social-first short-form videos from original HCM footage and sourced content using mobile editing tools.
Apply strong editorial judgment to build punchy narratives and select key moments for snackable cutdowns.
Enhance videos with framing choices, cutaways, zooms, sound effects, captions, and on-screen text.
Optimize deliverables for each target platform’s format and performance best practices.
When needed, route heavier/premium edits to Adobe Premiere Pro.
Establish and maintain a workflow from rough cut to final, including archiving/organizing footage and tracking licensed content usage.
Maintain a production calendar in Asana and track deliverable status through publication.
Perform quality control to ensure only high-quality edits are delivered for publishing.
Monitor social trends and app developments and incorporate relevant ideas into video concepts.
Identify opportunities to reuse and repurpose existing editorial video content.
Requirements
1+ years of short-form video editing experience.
Proficiency with mobile video editing apps (e.g., CapCut, Prequel, Edits, Canva).
Intermediate proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro.
Basic knowledge of color correction, audio mixing, motion design, and multi-cam editing.
Strong understanding of what makes vertical/social video perform across platforms and ability to spot key moments and viral trends.
Ability to work quickly, switch priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
Collaborative, cross-functional working style.
Digital media organization experience (plus).
Previous social media experience (plus).
Availability to work 20 hours per week.
Eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.
Portfolio or work samples links required in application.
Conditions
Part-time: 20 hours per week.
Schedule: 3–4 set shifts per week.
Remote role within the United States.
Pay range: $26–$29 per hour.
