Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Crawford Thomas Recruiting is hiring a Chief Operating Officer (COO) for a leading marine construction supply business executing an aggressive buy-and-build M&A growth strategy. The COO will partner with the Owner to build a scalable operating platform and run day-to-day operations and P&L across a growing multi-site network. The role is focused on post-acquisition integration, operational standardization, and margin and performance improvement.

• Architect a scalable operating platform and translate a $50M growth vision into an executable roadmap.
• Build and standardize systems and processes, including ERP/WMS implementation and SOP development, designed to be replicated across acquisitions.
• Own end-to-end operational integration of acquired companies, including Day 1 transitions and 90-day synergy milestones.
• Optimize supply chain and logistics to improve gross margins through freight optimization, vendor negotiations, and inventory turn management.
• Own day-to-day P&L management and establish an operating rhythm across sites.
• Develop KPI dashboards to track labor productivity, safety, and service levels; hold site managers accountable to financial and operational targets.
• Lead change management to align new locations culturally and operationally while preserving core value.

• 10+ years of operations leadership experience in industrial distribution, building materials, marine, or heavy construction environments.
• Demonstrated “builder” track record scaling a business (e.g., $10M to $50M+) and/or leading multi-site expansion.
• Proven M&A integration experience standardizing processes, systems, and teams.
• Strong financial acumen with significant P&L ownership and ability to identify margin-expansion opportunities within the supply chain.
• Bachelor’s degree required (Supply Chain, Engineering, or Business preferred); MBA is a significant plus.
• Culture fit: low ego/high impact, hands-on leadership, data-driven decision making, and strong bias for action in an owner-led organization.

• Location: onsite in the Tampa / Gibsonton, Florida area.
• Travel: 10–30% regional/national.
• Compensation: $175,000–$225,000 base salary plus annual bonus tied to KPIs.
