Summary
Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a Senior Director of Program Management to support the Strategic Program Office by driving day-to-day execution of enterprise programs across clinical, operational, financial, academic, and technology domains. The role coordinates complex, multi-year initiatives, provides governance and executive reporting, and oversees program managers to deliver measurable outcomes aligned with enterprise priorities.
What you'll do
- Provide oversight of program managers within the Strategic Program Office, assign work, and ensure alignment with enterprise transformation priorities.
- Lead coordination for large, complex enterprise programs (multi-year and/or multi-project initiatives, potentially exceeding $50M in value).
- Partner with clinical, research, academic, finance, and operations leaders to align programs with institutional priorities and track benefits and KPIs.
- Coordinate across project teams, workstreams, and external consultancies; manage timelines, conflicts, and interdependencies.
- Identify risks and issues, determine escalation paths, and drive mitigation and resolution.
- Lead regular program meetings to gather status, surface issues, and drive cross-project decisions.
- Review and evaluate project plans; provide actionable feedback to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
- Establish and manage governance structures (e.g., steering committees, decision forums).
- Create monthly dashboards and executive-ready communications on status, risks, dependencies, and progress.
- Deliver executive presentations and recommendations to sponsors/steering committees to mitigate risks and move programs forward.
- Define, track, and report success metrics aligned to strategic goals (clinical quality, research, education, financial impact, operational efficiency).
- Support post-implementation reviews to assess sustained performance and institutional impact.
- Build and scale program management assets (playbooks, tools, standards) and enable consistent planning/tracking/reporting.
- Review change management plans to promote sustainable workflow adoption; transition outputs to operational ownership.
- Mentor and develop program managers on large, multi-workstream initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred (healthcare, business, or related field).
- 10+ years of work experience, including 6+ years of direct project/program management experience in a healthcare setting.
- Management consulting experience preferred.
- Proven success leading complex transformations and managing a portfolio of projects concurrently.
- Strong understanding of healthcare operations, clinical workflows, and health system technology needs.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills; ability to present to C-suite stakeholders.
- Ability to apply and improve structured methodologies and frameworks.
- Experience with enterprise project management tools and practices (e.g., Microsoft Project).
Conditions
- Employment type: Full time.
- Compensation range stated: $186,000–$270,000 annually (bonuses/incentives and other compensation/benefits not included in stated range).
