Backend Engineer

Summary

RecruitGarden is seeking a Backend Engineer to participate in the design, implementation, and maintenance of server-side code for web applications and services. The role focuses on ensuring efficient, scalable, and secure solutions while working with a geographically distributed team of engineers, QA, UI/UX designers, and product managers.

What you'll do

  • Participate in the design, implementation, and maintenance of server-side code for web applications and services
  • Design and manage databases, including schema design, query optimization, and data integrity
  • Develop and maintain integrations between different system parts and external services
  • Implement and maintain comprehensive test coverage for codebase reliability
  • Maintain and refactor codebase to address issues and manage technical debt
  • Collaborate with geographically distributed team of engineers, QA, designers, and PMs
  • Participate in internal team and company-wide meetings
  • Implement and adhere to security best practices and protect against vulnerabilities

Requirements

  • 4+ years of commercial software development experience
  • Experience with Go programming language (or similar)
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL optimization
  • Basic understanding of Docker and containerization
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins or GitHub Actions
  • Proficiency in Git for version control
  • Proficiency in testing and debugging, including unit and integration tests
  • Ability to design and implement scalable RESTful and GraphQL APIs
  • Strong knowledge of security best practices (OWASP Top 10)
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication and documentation skills

Nice to have: Understanding of concurrency models and goroutines, familiarity with Cassandra, Redis, or Elasticsearch, AWS experience, GraphQL expertise, message broker experience, Ruby on Rails knowledge
