The role supports visitor safety and experience while protecting museum collections, buildings, and grounds through patrols, monitoring, and inspections.
What you'll do
- Patrol the museum’s buildings, galleries, and grounds as assigned.
- Monitor visitor activity to ensure safety of staff and visitors, adherence to policies/procedures, and protection of the collection and facilities (prevent theft, vandalism, and damage).
- Answer guest questions with a customer-service focus and help create a welcoming environment.
- Conduct daily inspections of assigned areas and report safety issues, damages/repair needs, and water intrusion/leaks.
- Assist with emergency situations by communicating with the appropriate point of contact.
- Escort staff and guests as assigned.
- Maintain a professional image in line with the internal dress code.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to ascend/descend stairs.
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Valid Driver’s License or ability to obtain prior to hire (driver’s permits are not allowable).
Preferred:
- Previous customer service experience.
- Experience in a museum or non-profit organization.
- Ability to promote a welcoming work/education environment.
- Ability to respond calmly to urgent/emergency situations.
Conditions
- Part-time (OPS), 1st shift.
- Anticipated pay: $15.45/hour for 28 hours/week.
- Eligible for an additional $5/hour for working special events.
- Must follow internal dress code/professional appearance standards.
