Software Engineer Intern

Mercor is a Series C AI company building a new category of work where expert human intelligence helps train and improve frontier AI models. The Software Engineer Intern will join a small product-driven engineering team to build and ship modern backend systems that power critical workflows for advanced AI companies.

• Design, build, and ship production backend systems that support critical customer workflows.
• Own projects end-to-end, from system design through implementation and deployment.
• Write production-grade code with a focus on scalability, simplicity, and code quality.
• Collaborate closely with product and design to deliver features quickly.
• Work on either the talent platform (recruiting automation, candidate-role matching, contracts and payments) or applied AI/human data (creating post-training datasets with AI researchers).
• Make engineering decisions that tie directly to business outcomes.

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field (graduating 2025–2027).
• Strong programming skills in
  • Python
  • Go
  • JavaScript
• Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with APIs, SQL/NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms.
• Curiosity and passion for AI and startups.
• Excited to work in person and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
