Human Resources Operations Manager

Summary
Drink DELTA is expanding its People team to support growth across multiple states. The HR Operations Manager will own day-to-day HR operations while building scalable infrastructure to ensure accurate, compliant, and consistent HR processes. This is a hands-on role partnering with People leadership, recruiting, operations, and managers across the organization.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end payroll administration, including processing, audits, issue resolution, and year-end activities (e.g., W-2s, reconciliations).
- Manage the payroll vendor/PEO relationship and oversee federal, state, and local payroll tax compliance; review filings, notices, and reports and coordinate resolutions.
- Ensure accurate employee classifications, pay practices, and deductions.
- Manage day-to-day benefits administration (enrollments, changes, terminations, employee support) and partner with brokers/carriers/vendors.
- Support annual open enrollment and benefits renewal execution; maintain benefits documentation and consistent administration.
- Support multi-state employment law compliance (wage and hour, leave administration, postings, notices) and maintain compliance tracking, documentation, and audit readiness.
- Manage workers’ compensation and unemployment processes; assist with government inquiries and external audits.
- Serve as first-line HR operations support for employee questions; support managers with performance documentation, corrective action, and policy interpretation.
- Conduct investigations when necessary and support performance management processes through consistent execution and documentation.
- Administer HR systems/tools (HRIS, payroll, benefits, document management) and build operational trackers, logs, and dashboards.
- Develop and document HR workflows and SOPs; partner with vendors, agencies, and internal teams to implement and improve systems and processes.
- Collaborate with People leadership and cross-functional leaders to translate People initiatives into practical, executable processes and improve alignment and follow-through.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in HR Operations, People Operations, or similar roles.
- Direct, hands-on experience with payroll administration and payroll tax compliance (via PEO or payroll vendor).
- Experience administering employee benefits programs.
- Experience supporting multi-state employment compliance.
- Background handling employee relations and performance documentation.
- Strong systems/platform administration skills, including building trackers and documentation.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and execute with minimal oversight.
- Strong judgment, attention to detail, and follow-through.
- Ability to partner effectively with leaders, managers, and employees at all levels.
Preferred (not required):
- HR certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP).
- Experience working with PEOs.
- Experience in regulated or operationally complex industries.
