Back-end Developer (Python, FastAPI, Postgres)

SpeakUp is an AI-powered matching platform connecting event organizers, media teams, journalists, and podcasters with verified speakers and experts. This remote contract role seeks a Backend Developer to scale backend services and APIs using Python, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL, integrating AI-powered features and building scalable solutions for a growing global platform.

• Develop and maintain backend services using Python and FastAPI
• Design and improve REST APIs and WebSocket services
• Integrate external services including AI models, payments, and notifications
• Optimize backend performance and database queries
• Work with PostgreSQL and Redis for data storage and caching
• Contribute to scalable backend architecture and microservices
• Collaborate with product and frontend teams

• 3+ years of backend development with Python
• Proficiency in FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, and AWS (SES, S3)
• Experience with WebSockets and GitHub
• Experience with API design and microservices architecture highly advantageous
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• Nice to have: AWS experience, machine learning or AI service integration, OAuth integrations (LinkedIn, Google)

• Remote position
• Contract-based collaboration approximately 20 hours per week for 2–3 months
• Competitive hourly rate depending on experience
