Lead Java Engineer +React/Angular

N-iX is seeking a Lead Full Stack Engineer with Java and React/Angular expertise to lead a team of developers while maintaining 70% hands-on coding responsibilities. The role focuses on technical leadership, architectural decisions, and championing AI coding agents within the development workflow across an international team.

• Lead a team of full-stack developers: set technical direction, run design reviews, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers
• Write production code daily alongside the team as hands-on development
• Own architectural decisions for new features and system-level improvements
• Drive adoption of AI coding agents across the team and establish best practices
• Develop and review REST services supporting high-volume, low-latency web and mobile applications
• Design and implement database schema changes using MS SQL Server and oversee Flyway migration strategy
• Maintain and modernize existing codebase with migration planning for legacy modules
• Triage and lead resolution of production incidents
• Collaborate with product, QA, and other engineering teams on feature definition and delivery
• Conduct code reviews and establish team coding standards
• Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and reliability risks

• 7+ years of professional software development experience with strong Java background
• 2+ years in a tech lead or principal engineer role mentoring developers and driving technical decisions
• Minimum 6 months of hands-on experience using AI coding agents (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) in daily workflows
• Deep proficiency in Java 11 and Spring ecosystem (Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring JDBC)
• Practical experience with React 18 OR Angular (Redux, Material UI, or similar libraries)
• Strong MS SQL Server and database design experience including Flyway migrations
• Experience with Gradle build system
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and messaging patterns (Azure Service Bus, AWS SQS)
• Advanced English language skills for leading meetings and technical discussions
• Advanced Ukrainian language skills
• Nice to have: Experience with AWS (S3, SQS, DynamoDB, Lambda) and Azure (Service Bus, Blob Storage), Docker, and Kubernetes
