People Operations Associate
Summary
Voltus is a leading virtual power plant operator connecting distributed energy resources to energy markets across the US and Canada. The People Operations Associate partners with the Senior Director of People Operations to deliver reliable HR systems and operational support across the employee lifecycle. The role ensures People programs run smoothly, accurately, and on time while supporting a fast-paced, remote organization.
What you'll do
- Execute people processes, operations, and policies across the full employee lifecycle
- Administer HR systems and ensure data accuracy across HRIS, leave management, and PEO platforms
- Serve as the first point of contact for People Ops inquiries and provide timely resolutions
- Support annual people cycles including open enrollment, merit and promotion cycles, employee feedback, and performance management
- Develop and prepare people metrics and reports (turnover, engagement results, exit themes, headcount tracking)
- Recommend process, policy, and practice improvements to increase team efficiency and effectiveness
- Coordinate and help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local People Operations regulations
- Partner with external counsel to support visa-related and immigration matters for employees
- Collaborate with Finance to support payroll administration, leave management, and pay compliance
Requirements
5+ years of experience across all aspects of people operations
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills; ability to work independently and within a team
Subject-matter expertise in HR systems and processes, including technology maintenance, legal and compliance matters, compensation and benefits, and performance management
Experience with Rippling preferred
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
Comfort operating in a fast-paced, high-growth, deadline-oriented, virtual environment while managing multiple priorities
Passion for people, energy, and climate issues
Must be authorized to work from home location in the US or Canada; no visa sponsorship or transfers for new hires
Conditions
Remote role; Voltus is an all-remote workplace distributed across the US and Canada
Employees are expected to work primarily from their home country; international travel work requires approval per Global Remote Travel Policy
Compensation: base pay $100,000–$115,000 USD annually (plus 10–20% bonus paid semi-annually and equity)
