Medical Assistant - Bryant

Summary

Sage Health builds neighborhood health centers providing concierge-style primary care and wellness for seniors, fully covered through Medicare Advantage plans. The Medical Assistant supports patient care under physician direction by preparing patients for exams, coordinating tests and follow-up care, and documenting in the electronic health record. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, professional support for geriatric patients within the center team.

What you'll do

  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, take and document vital signs (weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature) in the electronic health record.
  • Obtain and document patient medical history.
  • Ensure reports, labs, and relevant information are completed and available in the patient record prior to appointments.
  • Safeguard medical records and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  • Prepare exam rooms and assist physicians or onsite specialists during examinations and treatments.
  • Support primary care physicians with virtual appointments in patients’ homes.
  • Clean and disinfect exam rooms after patient visits and follow infection-control procedures.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, healthy work environment by following policies and legal/regulatory requirements.
  • Stock exam rooms, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required, and dispose of contaminated supplies properly.
  • Manage medical supplies by inventorying, placing orders, and verifying receipts.
  • Maintain logs and required checks (e.g., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen).
  • Handle telephone messages and respond to patient/physician/pharmacy calls; place calls to pharmacies and diagnostic facilities as requested.
  • Perform clinical procedures such as drawing blood, removing sutures, and changing dressings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and participate in interdisciplinary teams supporting patient care plans and outcomes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience (combined education/experience may substitute).
  • CPR and First Aid certification required; CMA/RMA preferred.
  • Phlebotomy skills (blood draw).
  • Experience with EMR/EHR systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Professional demeanor and strong communication skills.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail; ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Resourcefulness in problem solving and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to take ownership, follow through on assigned tasks, and maintain accountability.

Preferred:

  • Medical office setting experience.
  • Toenail clipping/trimming experience.
  • Wound dressing experience.
  • Experience working in medically underserved and/or culturally diverse communities.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
  • Bilingual Spanish.

Conditions

  • Role is based in a Sage Health neighborhood health center and includes assisting with virtual appointments in patients’ homes.
  • Reports to Center Manager/Market Clinical Nurse Manager.
  • Physical demands include frequent visual acuity, hearing, standing, walking, and lifting/pulling/pushing (75–100%); limited sitting (0–24%).
