Vice President of Operations
Summary
Evermont Group is hiring a Vice President of Operations for a premier Mid-Atlantic commercial builder. The role is a senior leadership position focused on driving operational excellence in project delivery, profitability, and scalable growth across a diversified construction portfolio.
What you'll do
- Provide strategic and day-to-day operational leadership for all projects within assigned business units.
- Partner with business unit leadership to align execution with financial targets, growth objectives, and operational priorities.
- Oversee execution from preconstruction through closeout to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Monitor and optimize key performance indicators (safety, schedule adherence, profitability, client satisfaction) and implement corrective/improvement actions.
- Forecast workload and resource needs and collaborate with preconstruction to support capacity planning.
- Lead, mentor, and retain high-performing operational teams (Project Managers, Superintendents, Project Executives).
- Champion operational consistency, risk mitigation strategies, and technology adoption to enhance execution.
- Cultivate client and trade partner relationships, resolve escalated issues, and ensure superior project outcomes.
- Represent the company in industry forums, networking events, and client engagements.
Requirements
Experience: 15+ years in commercial construction with at least 5 years in senior operational or project leadership roles.
Operational expertise: Proven track record leading multi-project execution with strong safety, quality, schedule, and financial performance.
Leadership: Experience scaling teams, developing talent, and driving accountability across project delivery functions.
Client & stakeholder management: Strong relationship management skills with ability to secure repeat business and deliver high client satisfaction.
Communication: Exceptional strategic communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
Strong job tenure with leading ENR general contractors.
Conditions
Location: Full time in the D.C. metro region (not remote).
Compensation: Competitive base salary in the $200k–$250k range.
Relocation: Relocation assistance may be considered for the right candidates.
