Her Campus Media, a Gen Z-focused media and marketing ecosystem, is hiring a part-time Social Video Editor to support its social media team across brands like Her Campus, Spoon University, and College Fashionista.
The role focuses on creating social-first, vertical short-form edits primarily with mobile editing apps, ensuring high-quality deliverables optimized per platform.
What you'll do
Edit engaging social-first video content from original and sourced footage using mobile video editing tools (e.g., CapCut, Prequel, Edits, Canva).
Apply strong editorial and social judgment to craft punchy narratives and identify key moments for snackable cutdowns.
Make creative decisions on framing, cutaways, zooms, sound effects, captions, and on-screen text to enhance storytelling.
Optimize each deliverable for its intended platform and audience behavior.
When needed, shift heavier/premium edits into Adobe Premiere Pro.
Establish and maintain a video workflow from rough cut through final delivery, including archiving/organizing footage and tracking licensed content usage.
Manage a video production calendar in Asana, tracking deadlines and production status.
Perform quality control to ensure deliverables meet high standards before publication.
Monitor social media trends and app updates, incorporating relevant trends into concepts and edits.
Identify opportunities to reuse and repurpose existing editorial video content.
Requirements
1+ years of experience editing short-form video.
Proficiency with mobile video editing tools such as CapCut, Prequel, Edits, and Canva.
Intermediate proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro.
Basic knowledge of color correction, audio mixing, motion design, and multi-cam editing.
Strong understanding of what makes vertical/social video perform across platforms and ability to spot compelling moments quickly.
Comfort working under tight deadlines and switching workflow based on priorities.
Collaborative mindset and willingness to work cross-functionally.
Digital media organization experience is a plus.
Previous social media experience is a plus.
Must be able to work 20 hours per week.
Portfolio link or examples of prior social video work required.
Conditions
Part-time role: 20 hours per week.
Schedule: 3–4 set shifts per week.
Remote within the United States.
Must be eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship available.
Pay range: $26–$29 per hour.
