Summary
Wits Solutions Inc. (WITS) is an SBA certified 8(a) company in the metropolitan Washington D.C. area providing IT and administrative consulting services to government and commercial customers. The Paralegal Support Specialist role supports a federal legal adjudication program by organizing and indexing evidence, triaging requests, and performing non-substantive quality checks and reporting. The purpose of the role is to help maintain accurate case documentation and support regulated notification and evidence-handling processes.
What you'll do
- Aggregate, index, and organize evidence received from partner agencies and internal sources.
- Gather internal records to support school-level fact-finding efforts.
- Assist with review and categorization of allegations (no attorney-level substantive determinations required).
- Track outreach to external agencies and monitor shared mailboxes to triage incoming requests.
- Support initiation of required notification steps under applicable regulations.
- Perform non-substantive QA (formatting and typographical checks) and assist with uploading documents to case files as directed.
- Maintain organized documentation and ensure files are stored following required protocols.
- Use Microsoft Excel to support tracking and reporting (including formulas and pivot tables) and perform moderately complex data analysis tied to case work.
Requirements
One of the following:
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program.
- Paralegal certification through NALA or NFPA.
- OR 3+ years of significant paralegal experience (law firm or government) in lieu of certification.
- 3+ years of experience in legal support, document management, or evidence handling.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables).
- Experience with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw).
- Experience with document review platforms (e.g., Relativity).
- Ability to obtain and maintain federal credentialing/access (e.g., background screening and PIV credentials).
Preferred:
- Experience supporting high-volume legal operations, investigations, or claims/adjudication teams.
- Experience with SharePoint-based document management and case tracking systems.
