Vice President Brand Creative
Summary
Madewell is hiring a Vice President, Creative Marketing to lead brand creative work across multi-channel campaigns and customer touchpoints. This role partners closely with the SVP Brand Creative & Marketing to take concepts through execution while managing a team and aligning creative strategy to business and brand goals.
What you'll do
Partner with the SVP Creative & Marketing to conceptualize and execute campaign concepts and secure leadership alignment on strategy and execution.
Develop culturally relevant creative executions with a customer-centric mindset to meet business and brand objectives.
Own content strategy across all channels (site experience, ecommerce, email, digital advertising, video, social, events, and more).
Direct and manage a team of 11 across art direction, ecommerce photography/stills studio, editorial voice, and copy.
Build, own, and deliver the creative budget; allocate resources across channels, freelance talent, technology/tools, and other investments.
Partner with VP Creative Ops & Production to align team resources and budget to project needs.
Evaluate creative team performance, provide guidance, and drive improvements.
Review and edit copy to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines and style standards.
Track content performance using analytics tools; analyze engagement, conversion, and ROI, and adjust strategies accordingly.
Develop and review responses to business briefs that provide strategic insights and creative inspiration.
Oversee work through the full project lifecycle (concept, development, refinement, execution).
Present and rationalize creative work in leadership presentations and creative shares.
Manage multiple creative projects simultaneously and support team leads in synthesizing feedback, timelines, and priorities.
Partner with internal and external stakeholders to inform creative approaches and solutions.
Requirements
15+ years of art direction, design, or creative experience (retail or luxury preferred).
Experience leading an in-house team within a vertical retailer.
4+ years of people management experience.
Expertise with Adobe Creative Suite, G-Suite, and Keynote.
Video editing experience; animation and 3D/AR development experience are a plus.
Strong portfolio demonstrating distinctive creative work.
Deep knowledge of fashion, image-making, and branding.
Strong casting capabilities and a creative partner network/contacts.
Experience concepting and directing video/moving image and digital storytelling.
Strong presentation, organizational, and detail-oriented project management skills.
Ability to work cross-functionally, especially with merchandising and ecommerce, in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborative leadership style with ability to mentor and manage.
Conditions
On-site requirement: must be on site 4 days per week.
