JUVENILE CASE MANAGER
Summary
The City of San Angelo is seeking a Juvenile Case Manager to support the City’s Municipal Court. The role coordinates case management for juvenile/minor offenses, maintains case records, conducts home/school visits, and monitors compliance with court orders. The position provides the Court with assessments and recommendations in the best interest of the child.
What you'll do
- Receive and process juvenile and minor-related offenses filed in Municipal Court.
- Oversee the Teen Court Program.
- Manage assigned juvenile caseloads and provide case management services to defendants.
- Communicate with juveniles, parents, school officials, and other agencies regarding case matters.
- Conduct field visits to homes and schools and monitor compliance with court orders.
- Follow up to ensure completion of court-mandated obligations (apologies, fines, classes, and/or community service).
- Prepare and send reminders to juveniles and parents regarding court-ordered obligations.
- Assist juveniles in preparing for court proceedings and monitor adherence to juvenile dress code requirements.
- Perform case research; prepare, scan, index, and maintain case documentation.
- Assist with supervising juvenile community service activities as required.
- Obtain juvenile fingerprints and process documentation for transfers to the City’s Juvenile Justice Center.
- Prepare daily, monthly, and yearly reports.
- Provide information and recommendations to assist the Judge in decisions in the best interest of the child.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two years’ experience working with juveniles and two years’ case management experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Ability to perform case management functions for Municipal Court matters.
- Experience conducting field visits and monitoring compliance with court orders.
- Skill in interacting with juveniles, parents, school officials, and related agencies.
- Ability to prepare, update, and maintain case records, reports, and documentation.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, court/law enforcement personnel, school officials, juveniles, and parents.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver License; applicants with an out-of-state license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of licensure.
Conditions
Position is open until filled and may be withdrawn at any time at the direction of the City Manager.
Work is performed in a standard office environment and in the field when conducting home/school visits.
Physical demands include driving, sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
May be exposed to variable weather conditions, firearms, hazardous materials, infectious diseases, and potentially hostile members of the public.
