Summary
Oatly, the original oatmilk company founded in Sweden and now growing rapidly in the U.S., is hiring a temporary People Partner, Operations for 12–18 months with potential to become permanent. The role supports People Operations across payroll, benefits and leave administration, HR compliance, and HR systems to ensure accurate processes and a high-quality employee experience.
What you'll do
- Partner with the People team and ADP to ensure payroll is processed accurately, on time, and in compliance with local laws.
- Process, review, and audit payroll and third-party providers to ensure compliance with internal policies, tax laws, and statutory regulations.
- Support monthly/quarterly/annual financial close activities related to payroll as assigned.
- Monitor legal, tax, and regulatory changes and assess impacts on payroll processes and procedures.
- Support tax, audit, SOX compliance, and accounting obligations and deadlines; lead tax compliance efforts and state setup/maintenance.
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions related to payroll, ADP, and benefits.
- Lead the global project to implement payroll/benefits for Canada and Mexico.
- Support benefits enrollment and respond to HR policy questions related to payroll, HR systems, and benefits; escalate as needed.
- Perform leave administration duties in partnership with vendors and employees.
- Partner with benefit providers to maintain/validate system data feeds and automate information flow where possible.
- Conduct regular audits of people data (e.g., EEOC, I-9) and respond to regulatory reporting requests (e.g., Dept of Labor, Dept of Commerce).
- Work with external auditors and internal stakeholders to ensure SOX compliance and maintain accurate records.
- Stay current on employment law updates and coordinate with People/Legal to implement state and federal compliance changes.
- Maintain state unemployment rates, and manage registrations for new states/municipalities as needed.
- Support annual HR compliance reports and audits.
- Create and maintain documentation, guides, and SOPs for Operations processes to streamline the user experience.
- Partner cross-functionally (Finance, IT, People Team) to ensure data accuracy and drive continuous improvement.
- Process employee changes in HRIS (salary, manager, job changes, promotions, offboarding) and ensure data completeness/accuracy.
- Support reporting and management of the ADP learning platform and employee trainings (global harassment and Docebo).
- Provide first-level People Business Partner support to assigned business units; perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience: 5+ years of HR experience focused on payroll, tax, compliance, and benefits.
- 2+ years of experience using ADP in a payroll processing function.
- 2+ years of experience with Workday and/or a similar HRIS.
- Preferred: experience building payroll/benefits systems with vendors in Canada and Mexico.
- Strong Excel reporting skills; ability to build reports for People and Finance teams.
- Strong knowledge of systems and process mapping; ability to create SOPs and drive automations for efficiency.
- Strong MS Office skills.
- Soft skills: ownership mentality, comfortable with ambiguity, collaborative, responsive, organized.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.

Conditions
- Type/term: Temporary role for 12–18 months with possibility of permanent conversion.
- Work arrangement: Remote, must be based in the Eastern Time Zone; preference for commuting distance to New York City or Philadelphia.
