Vice President of Operations

Summary

UWorld is seeking a Vice President of Operations to plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee operational activities for assigned departments as the company grows as a leading education company worldwide.

This executive leader will partner with the COO and other leaders to drive strategy, improve processes, and ensure departments are staffed, efficient, and aligned to UWorld’s mission to improve learning outcomes for students and professionals.

What you'll do

  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee daily operations and workflow for assigned departments.

  • Communicate and implement the strategic direction of assigned departments.

  • Collaborate with the COO and executive leadership to develop and meet company goals, providing expertise and guidance on departments and projects.

  • Partner cross-functionally with other divisions and departments to execute company objectives.

  • Ensure departments are fully staffed with top performers in conjunction with managers and directors.

  • Mentor direct reports, identify professional development needs, and ensure appropriate training is provided.

  • Deliver constructive, timely performance evaluations.

  • Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to streamline operations and resource usage.

  • Align departmental decisions and project plans (staffing, development, organization, efficiency, resource focus) with company vision.

  • Establish and implement policies, practices, standards, and security measures for consistent execution and support.

  • Review and approve cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects.

  • Establish and administer assigned budgets.

  • Present periodic performance reports and metrics to the COO and other executive leadership.

  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and trends that may impact the company.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: MBA or equivalent required.

  • Experience: At least 15 years of industry-related experience, including 5 years in upper management.

  • Industry preference: EdTech/Education industry experience strongly preferred.

  • Skills: Proficiency in current business and productivity software and applications.
