Principal Backend Engineer

Backbase is seeking a Principal Backend Engineer to join a highly skilled multidisciplinary product team in R&D. You will contribute to new and existing functionalities, proof of concepts, and technical improvements for the Digital Banking Platform, with a specific focus on Trade Finance Capability.

• Contribute to new and existing functionalities within the Digital Banking Platform
• Develop proof of concepts and technical improvements
• Work on Trade Finance Capability features
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary product teams on microservices architecture solutions
• Implement continuous integration and delivery practices
• Drive technical decisions and architectural improvements across the platform
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members

• Solid background in software development, design and architectural patterns
• Experience with Java, Spring, Maven, JPA, Hibernate, CI and CD
• Strong experience with microservices architecture
• Experience with Cloud-native deployments and traditional application servers (WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat)
• Knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL)
• Good understanding of non-functionals such as security, performance, and scalability
• Experience as a technical leader
• Solid understanding of Enterprise Integration Patterns
• Excellent communication skills in English, spoken and written
• Ability to communicate clearly across all levels
• Experience in banking domain or Fintech products (advantageous)
• Full-Stack development experience (advantageous)
