The Social Video Editor (part-time) will edit social-first video content for brands like Her Campus, Spoon University, and College Fashionista, creating platform-optimized vertical videos from original and sourced footage.
What you'll do
- Edit social-first video using mobile tools (e.g., CapCut, Prequel, Edits, Canva) from original and sourced footage.
- Shape engaging, snackable narratives by selecting key moments and applying strong editorial/social judgment.
- Make creative editing decisions (framing, cutaways, zooms, SFX, captions, on-screen text) to enhance storytelling.
- Optimize deliverables for each target platform and its best practices.
- Shift heavier/premium edits to Adobe Premiere Pro when needed.
- Set and maintain a video workflow from rough cut to final deliverables, including archiving/organizing footage and tracking licensed content usage.
- Maintain a production calendar in Asana to track deadlines and delivery status.
- Perform quality control to ensure high-quality outputs before publication.
- Monitor social trends and app developments and incorporate them into video concepts when appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to reuse/repurpose existing editorial video content.
Requirements
- 1+ years of short-form video editing experience.
- Proficiency with mobile video editing tools (CapCut, Prequel, Edits, Canva, etc.).
- Intermediate proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Basic knowledge of color correction, audio mixing, motion design, and multi-cam editing.
- Strong understanding of what makes effective vertical/social video and how it performs on platforms.
- Ability to work tight deadlines and adjust workflow based on changing priorities.
- Collaborative mindset and comfort working cross-functionally.
- Availability to work 20 hours per week.
Plus: experience at a digital media organization; prior social media experience.

Conditions
- Part-time: 20 hours per week.
- Schedule: 3–4 set shifts per week.
- Work arrangement: remote.
