Benefits Specialist

Summary

PUMA Group is seeking a Benefits Specialist within the People & Organization team to support health & welfare programs, retirement plans, and wellbeing initiatives across the US and Canada. This individual contributor role serves as the primary contact for employee benefits questions and helps maximize understanding and utilization of benefit programs.

What you'll do

  • Provide timely, value-added benefits support to 1000+ employees across the US and Canada.

  • Act as liaison between employees and health & welfare/retirement plan representatives to troubleshoot benefits issues, claims, and concerns.

  • Maintain and manage relationships with benefits vendors in the US and Canada.

  • Create and distribute benefits communications and educational materials, including benefits packages for newly eligible employees.

  • Lead annual Open Enrollment by communicating plan changes, educating employees, monitoring enrollments/changes in the self-service system, and managing Benefit Fairs at Assembly and CPG Corporate locations.

  • Approve and maintain benefit enrollments and changes; monitor plan administration in Workday HRIS; produce ad-hoc audit reporting.

  • Audit and pay benefit plan invoices, including retirement plan funding.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable state/provincial and federal laws and regulations.

  • Plan and deliver monthly newsletters, flu shot clinics, and wellbeing events.

  • Partner with internal stakeholders including Finance, Tax, Payroll, and HRIS.

  • Manage Tuition Reimbursement and Charitable Donation Match programs.

  • Contribute input on renewals and plan design by analyzing employee trends and external market developments.

  • Identify process/workflow improvement opportunities and recommend enhancements to plans and programs.

  • Support broader HR team initiatives and assist with benefits and departmental projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 3+ years of experience in Human Resources benefits and HRIS.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with flexibility.

  • Workday experience beneficial.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

  • Service-focused, creative, and analytical; strong presentation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Self-starter with ability to work independently; results-oriented and able to meet demanding time frames.

Conditions

  • Scope: US & Canada benefits programs.

  • Some limited travel may be required to support other corporate locations during Open Enrollment.

  • Compensation includes base pay range plus bonus and benefits.
