Probationary 2.0 Elementary Teacher (Sixth Grade)

Erie 1 BOCES is seeking a probationary 2.0 Elementary Teacher (Sixth Grade) for Veronica E. Connor Middle School within the Grand Island Central School District. The role teaches ELA, Math, and Science and focuses on delivering inclusive, data-informed instruction to support student achievement. The anticipated start date is September 1, 2026.

• Teach sixth-grade English Language Arts, Math, and Science.

• Plan and deliver instruction aligned to NYS Next Generation ELA and Math Learning Standards and NYS Science Learning Standards (and applicable Social Studies standards).

• Use data-driven instruction and assessment tools to improve student achievement.

• Implement guided reading practices and leverage instructional programs (e.g., I-Ready, My Path, IXL, Khanmigo, ThinkTech).

• Collaborate with grade-level teams and special area teachers.

• Integrate technology into instruction and professional responsibilities.

• Create an inclusive and engaging learning environment within an integrated co-taught classroom setting.

• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, and ENL supports.

• Maintain positive classroom management and a productive learning climate.

• NYS certification in Childhood Education Birth-6 (preferred) and/or required certification types: Pre K-6 (3011) and Childhood Education Grades 1-6 (3014).

• Familiarity with NYS Next Generation ELA and Math Learning Standards and NYS Science Learning Standards (and NYS Social Studies Learning Standards).

• Experience with guided reading and educational tools/programs: I-Ready assessments, My Path, IXL, Khanmigo, ThinkTech.

• Ability to use data-driven instruction to improve student achievement.

• Ability to cooperate and collaborate with grade-level teams and special area teachers.

• Strong technology skills; ability to integrate technology into instruction.

• Strong written and oral communication skills.

• Strong work ethic and ability to collaborate within a team/school setting.

• Demonstrated ability to provide inclusive instruction in an integrated co-taught classroom.

• Ability to differentiate instruction for students with IEPs, 504 plans, and ENL supports.

• Evidence of positive classroom management skills.

• Appointment status: Probationary (2.0).

• Position status: Full time.

• Anticipated start date: September 1, 2026.

• Work location: Veronica E. Connor Middle School.

• Hours: 7:25 AM to 2:25 PM.

• Salary: BA Step 1 $49,447 or MA Step 1 $52,190 per GITA contract.
