Summary
Better is seeking a strategic Logistics Director to lead end-to-end logistics, distribution, and supply chain execution across domestic and international operations. The role focuses on optimizing movement of goods, inventory accuracy, cost control, and service-level performance through cross-functional leadership and data-driven execution.
What you'll do
- Develop and execute logistics and distribution strategy to meet service, cost, and scalability objectives.
- Oversee transportation, warehousing, inventory control, and order fulfillment across multiple regions.
- Manage relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and 3PL partners to ensure performance and cost optimization.
- Define KPIs and SLAs; track on-time delivery, freight spend, inventory accuracy, and fulfillment efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement to reduce transportation costs, optimize routing, and improve warehouse productivity.
- Align demand planning with Supply Chain and Operations to ensure inventory availability and minimize stockouts/excess.
- Implement and optimize logistics systems (TMS, WMS) and ERP integrations.
- Ensure compliance with domestic/international shipping regulations, trade laws, and safety standards.
- Create contingency planning frameworks to mitigate disruptions and risk exposure.
- Prepare and manage logistics budgets, including freight forecasting and cost controls.
- Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing logistics and distribution team.
- Provide executive-level reporting on performance, risks, and improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in logistics management, transportation planning, and distribution operations.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain optimization, inventory management, and cost control methodologies.
- Experience negotiating carrier contracts and managing freight procurement strategies.
- Advanced knowledge of TMS, WMS, ERP systems, and logistics analytics tools.
- Proven leadership managing large, distributed teams and third-party providers.
- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of international shipping, customs compliance, and trade regulations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Preferred: 8–12+ years progressive experience in logistics/supply chain/operations leadership.
- Preferred: Industry experience in manufacturing, retail, e-commerce, consumer goods, or industrial distribution.
- Preferred: Experience scaling logistics infrastructure in rapid growth environments.
- Preferred: Certifications such as CSCP, CLTD, Six Sigma, or PMP.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Preferred: Experience leading digital transformation initiatives in logistics operations.
