Social Video Editor (Part-time)
Summary
Her Campus Media is a Gen Z media and marketing ecosystem with multiple youth-focused media brands and creator communities. The Social Video Editor (Part-time) will edit social-first video content for HCM brands, helping turn original and sourced footage into high-performing vertical videos across platforms. The role supports the social team and reports to the Director of Social.
What you'll do
- Edit social-first videos primarily using mobile editing apps (e.g., CapCut, Prequel, Edits, Canva) from original and sourced footage.
- Apply strong editorial judgment to identify key moments and build punchy, snackable social cutdowns.
- Make creative decisions on framing, cutaways, zooms, sound effects, captions, and on-screen text.
- Optimize edits per platform requirements and best practices.
- Use Adobe Premiere Pro for heavier, more premium edits when needed.
- Establish and maintain a workflow from rough cut to final delivery, including archiving/organizing footage and tracking licensed content usage.
- Maintain a video production calendar in Asana and track deliverable status to publication.
- Perform quality control to ensure only high-quality deliverables are published.
- Monitor social trends and app updates and incorporate them into concepts when appropriate.
- Identify opportunities to reuse and repurpose existing editorial video content.
Requirements
1+ years of experience in short-form video editing.
Proficiency with mobile video editing tools (e.g., CapCut, Prequel, Edits, Canva).
Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro.
Basic understanding of color correction, audio mixing, motion design, and multi-cam editing.
Strong understanding of what makes vertical/social video perform across platforms and solid social news/editorial judgment.
Ability to work quickly, switch priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
Collaborative mindset and comfort working cross-functionally.
Experience at a digital media organization (plus).
Previous social media experience (plus).
Portfolio link/examples of prior social video work required in application.
Conditions
Part-time: 20 hours per week.
Schedule: 3–4 set shifts per week.
Remote role; must be located within the United States and eligible to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship).
Pay: $26–$29 per hour.
