Summary
Dexis is seeking a Senior Drupal Developer to maintain and modernize legacy healthcare web platforms including patient/provider portals and internal tools. The role focuses on supporting complex Drupal codebases while ensuring security, compliance, performance, and accessibility in a healthcare environment.
What you'll do
- Maintain and improve legacy Drupal projects including custom code, contributed modules, and complex integrations
- Troubleshoot production issues related to logs, databases, caching, permissions, and edge cases
- Plan and execute Drupal upgrades and migrations (e.g., Drupal 7/8 to 9/10/11)
- Refactor code toward modern Drupal standards using Symfony practices, Composer-first approach, and config management
- Integrate with external systems via APIs (REST/JSON:API, OAuth2, SSO; FHIR/HL7 integration)
- Ensure security best practices including patching, hardening, RBAC, and secure configuration
- Support accessibility efforts (WCAG AA) and performance optimization
Requirements
- Strong hands-on Drupal experience (Drupal 9/10/11 with real legacy codebase exposure)
- PHP 8+, Symfony fundamentals, and Composer workflows
- Custom module development and theming skills (Twig)
- Deep understanding of Drupal architecture
- Experience with API integrations and authentication flows
- Confident with Git, CI/CD, and Docker or similar dev environments
- Strong communication and ownership mindset
- Nice to have: Healthcare/regulated domain experience, automated testing, code quality practices, Redis/Varnish caching, CDN experience, multisite/multilingual setups
