Summary
Her Campus Media is a Gen Z media and marketing ecosystem with a portfolio of youth-focused media brands and creator communities. The Social Video Editor (Part-time) will edit social-first, short-form video content for brands including Her Campus, Spoon University, and College Fashionista to drive engaging platform-optimized performance.
What you'll do
Edit social-first video content using mobile apps (e.g., CapCut, Prequel, Edits, Canva) from original HCM footage and sourced footage (e.g., vodcasts, curated compilations).
Apply strong editorial and social judgment to craft punchy narratives and identify key moments for snackable cutdowns.
Make creative editing decisions (framing, cutaways, zooms, sound effects, captions, on-screen text) to enhance storytelling and viewer experience.
Optimize deliverables per platform requirements and best practices.
Route heavier/premium edits to Adobe Premiere Pro when needed.
Set and maintain a video workflow from rough cut to final, including organizing/archiving footage and tracking licensed content usage.
Maintain a production calendar in Asana and track deliverable status through to publication.
Perform quality control to ensure high-quality deliverables for publication.
Monitor social trends and app developments and incorporate them into concepts when appropriate.
Identify opportunities to reuse and repurpose existing editorial video content.
Requirements
1+ years of experience in short-form video editing.
Proficiency with mobile video editing tools (CapCut, Prequel, Edits, Canva, etc.).
Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro.
Basic understanding of color correction, audio mixing, motion design, and multi-cam editing.
Strong understanding of what makes vertical/social video perform and what is watchable on social platforms.
Ability to switch workflows based on priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Collaborative, cross-departmental working style.
Experience at a digital media organization (plus).
Previous social media experience (plus).
Ability to work 20 hours per week.
Eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.

Conditions
Part-time: 20 hours per week.
Schedule: 3–4 set shifts per week.
Remote within the United States.
Hourly pay range: $26–$29/hour.
