Coordinator, Nutrition Education (Contract)

Summary

Feeding Tampa Bay is a hunger-relief nonprofit serving ten counties in West Central Florida through direct service and a large pantry partner network. The Coordinator, Nutrition Education (Contract) delivers localized nutrition and health education in community settings, supporting program delivery, partner engagement, and continuous improvement. The role also develops materials and tracks required data to strengthen education impact across assigned counties.

What you'll do

  • Support the design and implementation of nutrition education programming at Feeding Tampa Bay program sites and partner agencies (e.g., Child Hunger Programs, Trinity Cafe, Community Empowerment Centers, mobile/MEGA distributions, Groceries on the Go, FoodRx, and other healthcare partner programs).
  • Collaborate with Nutrition Education and Programs teams to deliver localized nutrition education and “healthy nudges” across the network and with community partners.
  • Identify and help train nutrition education partners.
  • Coordinate procurement and distribution of nutrition nudges, recipes, and other materials; support implementation of Foods to Encourage policies and protocols.
  • Use internal databases to track statistics, class data, and feedback; support reporting requirements and program improvement efforts.
  • Develop healthful, cost-effective recipes for programs and distribution to pantries/kitchens.
  • Facilitate cooking demonstrations using Feeding Tampa Bay’s Charlie Cart Nutrition Kitchen at events and partner sites.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with partner agencies; present Feeding Tampa Bay’s mission and strategy and serve as a liaison to community resources.
  • Assist with special projects and cross-train within the Health Programs Department.
  • Uphold food safety policies and maintain a professional, helpful demeanor.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in or completion of an ACEND-accredited program pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition/Dietetics (or related field), plus 2+ years of relevant field experience (e.g., practicum, internship, related work).
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, evolving environment; commitment to equity and respect aligned with mission-driven work.
  • Strong public speaking, training, and group facilitation skills; ability to deliver evidence-based nutrition presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to synthesize complex information for charting, grant proposals, and educational materials.
  • Experience engaging low-income and culturally diverse communities; understanding of social determinants of health and systemic barriers; experience with unhoused populations is a plus.
  • Ability to work with non-English speaking populations and with children/families or seniors; bilingual Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong independent project management with collaborative working style; ability to manage multiple projects and initiate program improvements.
  • Proven ability to manage and document deliverables and data from multiple sources; strong spreadsheet skills required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word/Office) and Google Suite.
  • Punctuality in meeting deliverables and adhering to set working hours.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license, clean driving record, and willingness to travel across the 10-county service region.
  • Willingness to participate in mission-driven operations such as food distribution and disaster relief as needed.
  • Physical requirements include standing, walking, reaching, climbing/balancing, and stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling.
  • May be subject to Level 1 or Level 2 criminal background check.

Conditions

  • Contract, part-time role; core hours vary.
  • Classification: offsite; work is primarily remote with regular travel within assigned coverage areas.
  • Periodic meeting attendance required at the Feeding Tampa Bay main warehouse.
