The Adjunct Faculty (Leadership and Curriculum Studies) role supports and enhances the student learning experience through instruction, service, and ongoing professional development under the guidance of the department chair.
What you'll do
Interact directly with students in an appropriate, professional manner and facilitate a safe, productive learning environment.
Respond in a timely manner to student requests (content clarification, discussion posts, personal queries) and contact inactive students as needed.
Oversee course quality by reviewing functionality and content to ensure high-quality delivery.
Enhance course content with personal experience, insights, and professional knowledge to expand the student experience.
Monitor assignments and provide feedback within college policies and timelines.
Synthesize and report student performance data in a timely manner.
Support program and institutional policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Promote ethical conduct; address plagiarism and copyright infringement and follow reporting procedures for infractions.
Direct students to supplemental resources to strengthen individual skills and abilities.
Collaborate with colleagues and leadership, including attending required meetings.
Promote the vision, mission, and culture of the college within and beyond the institution and provide leadership within one’s sphere of influence.
Maintain current professional/technical knowledge of curricula and industry trends via workshops, seminars, publications, networking, and professional societies.
Support and promote research to ensure the quality of program and course offerings.
Requirements
Earned terminal degree(s) in a field associated with the department.
Minimum 5+ years in a leadership role leading others.
Minimum of 3 peer-reviewed professional publications and presentations.
1+ year experience teaching and providing leadership in a formal educational setting using traditional and non-traditional formats (higher education strongly preferred).
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain online/virtual professional relationships; comfort working remotely and collaborating virtually.
Evidence of professional research and/or creative endeavors and expertise in the field.
Exceptional communication, organization, and time-management skills; strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision; adaptability under pressure and tight deadlines; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Commitment to student satisfaction and ability to recognize and anticipate student needs.
Must support and embrace ACE’s Impact mission and civic engagement initiatives.
Conditions
Remote/virtual-first role; requires real-time communication with students and staff using online/electronic media.
Compensation is per student per course: generally $50 per student (bachelor and master levels) and $126 per student (doctorate level); additional paid opportunities may include committee service and course writing/development.
Internet requirement: minimum 50 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload from the remote work location; employee is responsible for purchasing, setup, support, and maintenance of internet service.
AI tools may be used, but if AI use accounts for more than 50% of work assignments/responsibilities it must be reported to a direct leader.
Residency restriction: candidates residing in Alaska, Washington D.C., Massachusetts, South Dakota, or Alabama are not considered at this time.
