Summary
EWC Growth is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner to act as a strategic and operational partner to field leadership in a fast-paced, multi-unit retail and sales environment. The role supports leaders and employees across multiple states while driving employee relations, compliance, and HR operations to maintain a positive, high-performing workplace culture.
What you'll do
- Serve as primary HR partner for field leaders and employees on workplace concerns, conflict resolution, and employee relations matters.
- Conduct objective HR investigations related to complaints, policy violations, and workplace concerns.
- Coach leaders on performance management, corrective actions, documentation, and terminations.
- Partner with leadership to ensure consistent and fair application of company policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states, including wage and hour guidance.
- Support development and implementation of HR policies and procedures to mitigate organizational risk and maintain compliant documentation.
- Manage administration of leave of absence programs (medical, personal, and statutory leaves).
- Lead the ADA interactive process; coordinate medical documentation and determine appropriate accommodations in compliance with applicable laws.
- Partner with legal and HR leadership as needed to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Develop, document, and implement scalable HR processes; lead program rollouts with communication plans and change management support.
- Design and facilitate HR-led training for leaders on performance management, employee relations, compliance, and HR best practices.
- Support employee engagement, recognition, culture-building, retention, and morale initiatives with operational leaders.
- Serve as trusted advisor on leadership challenges, team dynamics, and workforce planning; coach managers on leadership development and communication.
- Support day-to-day HR operations including onboarding, HR system updates, documentation, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration with TA, Payroll, Operations, and HR Ops.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Required: Minimum 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including significant employee relations experience.
- Required: Experience supporting multi-state and multi-unit operations (preferably retail, hospitality, or sales environments).
- Required: Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance requirements, and HR best practices.
- Required: Experience managing leave of absence programs and ADA accommodation processes.
- Required: Ability to conduct workplace investigations and manage complex employee relations issues.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Preferred: HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR).
- Preferred: Experience supporting high-growth or fast-paced organizations.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., Rippling, Workday, ADP, UKG, Paycom, or similar).
- Advanced proficiency in Google Workspace.
- Exceptional judgment, discretion, and emotional intelligence.
- Strong project management, process-building, communication, training, and influence skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail; able to balance strategic thinking with tactical execution in a growth-oriented retail environment.
Conditions
- Work arrangement: Remote employment supported only in AZ, CT, FL, IL, IN, KS, MA, MO, NV, NJ, NY, OK, PA, and TX; preference for candidates in Illinois/Central Time Zone.
- Work environment: May occasionally work near moving equipment and be exposed to toxic/caustic chemicals, biological hazards, airborne fumes, outdoor weather conditions, and loud prolonged noise in certain assignments or offsite activities; reasonable accommodations available.
- Compensation: Base salary range $70,000–$75,000 annually.
