Engineering Manager

This Engineering Manager role combines hands-on technical expertise with thoughtful team leadership to lead a remote engineering team while aligning technical execution with product strategy.

What you'll do

People Management

  • Lead an all-remote engineering team and maintain a culture of excellence, collaboration, and mentorship
  • Use technical expertise to guide the team in solving complex problems, conduct code reviews, and discuss solutions
  • Set goals for engineers through OKRs and track their progress
  • Conduct one-on-ones, trainings, and manage career progressions

Project Oversight

  • Enable engineers to deliver outstanding results with accountability over quality and delivery performance
  • Monitor project progress, identify deviations, and take corrective actions
  • Evaluate potential project risks and develop contingency plans

Team Expansion

  • Identify opportunities for team growth and work with recruiters to hire and onboard new engineers
  • Enhance the technical interviewing process and candidate checks

SDLC and Automation

  • Collaborate with engineers to optimize SDLC process, CI/CD pipelines, and QA processes
  • Drive adoption of software methodologies and automation practices

Quality Improvement

  • Collaborate across teams to improve quality of specifications and technical requirements
  • Enhance definition of ready and definition of done criteria
  • Ensure automated tests improve Lead Time and reduce defects

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • BSc or MSc in Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant field
  • 5+ years of experience as an Individual Contributor (Software Developer, DevOps, ML Engineer, etc.)
  • 2+ years of experience managing technical teams

Technical Skills

  • Deep understanding of Agile practices and the SDLC
  • Experience building complex web-based products: API-first, cloud platforms, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes and automation testing tools
  • Experience with DevOps practices and tools

Leadership and Communication

  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop engineering teams
  • Experience in hiring, onboarding, and training new team members
  • Experience in establishing and tracking OKRs for engineering teams
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with business-oriented and results-focused approach
  • Proven experience collaborating with senior executives (CTOs, CEOs) on technology strategy
  • Fluent in English

Conditions

All-remote position. EdSpan operates within a framework of clearly defined processes supported by automation. Workflows are based on Agile principles with daily stand-ups, bi-weekly sprints, and other key Scrum practices while keeping meetings to a minimum to ensure focus on delivering high-quality results and professional growth.
