Training & Development Coordinator

The City of Pearland, Texas is hiring a full-time, on-site Training & Development Coordinator to assess organizational training needs and create learning solutions that support employee growth and operational excellence. The role designs, implements, and improves training programs using innovative methods and strong collaboration with leaders across the organization.

• Design, develop, and facilitate department-specific and citywide training programs aligned with organizational goals.
• Use innovative learning approaches (technology-based solutions, hands-on workshops, interactive learning experiences).
• Adapt training content and delivery as organizational needs evolve; drive continuous improvement.
• Partner with leadership on coaching, performance management training, and development resources.
• Ensure accuracy and effectiveness of training materials, documentation, and outcome/compliance reporting.
• Create an inclusive learning environment; address diverse learning styles and training needs with empathy and strategic insight.
• Collaborate with department leaders to identify skill gaps, recommend solutions, and evaluate learning effectiveness.
• Maintain training records including participation, feedback, effectiveness metrics, and compliance status.
• Identify and implement process improvements to streamline training operations and enhance learning experiences.
• Coordinate and lead LEAN initiatives.
• Manage the Learning Management System (LMS).
• Research and recommend training materials and methods; maintain in-house training equipment.
• Coordinate with HR Business Partners (HRBPs) and managers to ensure training needs are met.
• Assist with recognition programs.
• Host the New Employee Experience and support onboarding in partnership with HRBPs and HR Generalist.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Business Administration, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of experience in training and development, instructional design, organizational development, human resources, or a related role.
• Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Demonstrated creativity and problem-solving ability in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Proficiency with training technology including LMS, e-learning platforms, and virtual training tools.
• Ability to analyze training effectiveness and implement continuous improvements.
• Municipal experience is a plus.

• Salary range provided annually; pay based on qualifications.
