Summary
Book of the Month is hiring a Social Media Manager to lead all aspects of its social media program. The role blends content strategy and community building to grow the business and elevate brand presence across key social platforms.
What you'll do
- Develop and iterate a social strategy tied to clear business objectives and content tests
- Own and manage the social media editorial calendar across platforms
- Concept, create, and publish platform-native content for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, and emerging channels
- Stay attuned to cultural and industry trends and translate insights into on-brand content
- Brief content creators and internal designers; guide production toward strong engagement metrics
- Capture content by holding and/or appearing on camera
- Write engaging captions aligned with BOTM brand voice
- Align social content with campaign strategies and upcoming book releases
- Deliver monthly performance reports with insights and recommendations
- Lead daily community engagement (comments, tags, hashtags, paid social comments)
- Foster thoughtful, brand-aligned conversations and humanize the brand
- Identify, celebrate, and reshare standout UGC and influencer content
- Develop creative programs to deepen community participation and affinity
- Plan and execute giveaways, challenges, and community moments
- Partner with paid social team on UGC and influencer collaborations
- Represent the brand at industry events and capture behind-the-scenes content
Requirements
- Highly creative with ability to pitch, refine, and execute original ideas
- Fluent in platform nuances and audience expectations across major social channels
- Strong communication skills with a confident point of view and sense of humor
- Ability to adapt creative approach to maintain a distinct brand voice
- Exceptional taste and editorial eye for content and aesthetics
- Ability to analyze content performance and improve future results
- Skilled at generating insights and translating them into creative concepts
- Collaborative working style with other creatives toward business goals
- Deep engagement with internet culture, creator ecosystems, and books
- Willingness to take thoughtful creative risks to elevate the brand
- Interest in eCommerce, direct-to-consumer, and/or the book business
- Strong organization and time-management skills
Conditions
Salary range: $90,000–$130,000 per year (approx. $7,500–$10,833 per month)
