Summary

Westbrook Partners is seeking an Analyst/Associate to join its real estate private equity team in New York. The role supports real estate investment funds by underwriting and analyzing acquisition and development opportunities and contributing to asset management and disposition activities.

What you'll do

  • Create detailed and complex financial underwriting models for acquisition and development real estate investments.

  • Perform asset-level and market-level due diligence.

  • Evaluate a deal’s capital structure, business plan, and key performance risks through discussions with sponsors and market participants.

  • Assess physical property characteristics and competitive advantages/disadvantages.

  • Analyze operating characteristics including revenue, expenses, capital expenditures, tenant credit, and leases.

  • Identify demand drivers and gather market information via field work and direct contact with brokers, appraisers, and developers; forecast rent, absorption, vacancy, and liquidity.

  • Critically assess development team execution capability.

  • Communicate conclusions in a comprehensive narrative for senior management; participate in Underwriting and Investment Committee discussions.

  • Support ongoing asset management including financings/refinancings, major asset-level decisions, and eventual sale of properties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) in Business, Finance, Real Estate, or a related field with exceptional academic credentials.

  • 1–3 years of finance experience; preferred backgrounds include real estate investment banking, real estate private equity, or real estate investment sales.

  • High level of expertise in Excel; ARGUS proficiency helpful but not required.

  • Expertise in PowerPoint.

  • Self-motivated and able to perform in a collegial, fast-moving, demanding, dynamic environment.

  • Creative problem-solving ability.

  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills.

  • High attention to detail.

  • Impeccable integrity and trustworthiness.
