Data Science Intern

Medidata Solutions (a Dassault Systèmes company) builds digital solutions that support clinical trials and accelerate clinical breakthroughs. The Data Science Intern will join the Platform AI Team to help digitize clinical trial protocol documents so they can be used for automation and prediction. The focus is building an LLM-based pipeline to convert unstructured protocol footnotes into structured data.

• Design and engineer a pipeline using large language models (LLMs) to extract protocol footnotes related to the Schedule of Assessments (SoA).
• Resolve references within footnotes and transform extracted information into structured, standardized data.
• Improve Medidata’s protocol digitization approach to make protocol content amenable to trial automation and prediction tasks.
• Collaborate with mentors and cross-functional intern teams, including participation in the Intern Innovation Lab to deliver a solution to a business problem and present results to senior leaders.

• Currently enrolled student at a US university in a quantitative field requiring significant programming experience (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Computational Biology/Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics).
• Familiarity with standard software engineering practices, including use of source control.
• Interest in applying data science, machine learning, and generative AI to clinical trial and drug development problems.

• Summer internship program lasting 12 weeks, beginning May 18, 2026.
• Base pay listed for New York: $32/hour.
• Program elements include instructor-led training, guided mentorship, exposure to senior leadership, community service, and participation in the Intern Innovation Lab.
