Summary

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art (opening September 2026) is dedicated to illustrated storytelling and is building awareness and excitement for its launch in Los Angeles. The Coordinator, Marketing & Communications supports the Communications and Marketing division by coordinating projects, content, reporting, and operational workflows that connect activities across the team. The role helps deliver communications and marketing initiatives that engage internal and external audiences before and after the museum opens.

What you'll do

  • Support development and implementation of communications and marketing strategies promoting exhibitions, public programs, collections, development, and other initiatives.
  • Coordinate project management across the division to keep activities connected, on track, and aligned to goals.
  • Manage production schedules for communications and marketing deliverables and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Assist in creating content for the museum website and social media channels.
  • Help produce and distribute reports on press coverage, website and social analytics, advertising, and other division activity.
  • Assist in creating and distributing materials such as emails, press releases, signage, and event collateral.
  • Ensure communications and marketing initiatives are communicated thoroughly internally.
  • Participate in onboarding, setup, and ongoing management of the museum CRM system.
  • Support execution of programs and events (community activations/booths, press events, public programs, photo/video shoots) including materials, outreach plans, email communications, signage, and logistics.
  • Coordinate production, management, and distribution of branded items.
  • Provide operational and administrative support (ordering supplies, facilitating contracts, liaising with partners).
  • Schedule internal/external meetings; send agendas and follow-up communications.
  • Maintain a centralized archive of print and digital communications.
  • Track and report on the division budget.
  • Lead onboarding processes for new staff.
  • Support additional division activities and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Design, Business, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred).
  • 3–5 years of related experience in nonprofit, arts, museum, advertising, communications, design, or similar industries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills; exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-management skills; ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Self-motivated, high initiative, resourceful; able to work on many concurrent projects and manage competing priorities calmly.
  • Broad familiarity with communications and marketing principles; interest in museums, art, and culture.
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Airtable, Asana, Quickbase).
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity/experience with CRM systems, email communications tools (e.g., Mailchimp), website CMS platforms, digital asset management, and traditional/digital marketing tools.
  • Adobe Creative Suite experience desired; social media content creation experience desired.
  • Photography/videography skills are a plus.
  • Impeccable integrity, confidentiality, and sound judgment; ability to take direction and consolidate feedback.
