Summary
Kroenke Sports & Entertainment’s Outdoor Sportsman Group (OSG) is a major outdoor media company producing content across networks, magazines, websites, and streaming platforms. The Digital Editor supports OSG’s shooting-brand digital properties (e.g., Guns&Ammo, Shooting Times, Handguns, RifleShooter, Firearms News) by planning, editing, optimizing, and publishing content that grows audience engagement and traffic.
What you'll do
Develop content strategies with the Shooting Publisher, Print Editors, and Director of Digital Editorial aligned to short- and long-term goals.
Collaborate with Ad Sales, Social, Marketing, Research, TV Programming, and Design teams on site content, style, and layout.
Write, proofread, edit, SEO-optimize, incorporate affiliate marketing, and publish digital content.
Coordinate with other digital editors and contributors to ensure brand voice and consistency.
Maintain and update the editorial calendar and adjust workflow to meet deadlines.
Use reporting/analytics tools to monitor website traffic and user engagement metrics.
Support content distribution to social media, YouTube, marketing, and newsletter platforms to increase web traffic.
Ensure legal compliance (e.g., copyright, data protection) and implement content corrections as directed.
Solicit press releases and product information from clients/manufacturers and create product-focused written content.
Maintain and apply style guides; stay current on AP Stylebook changes and digital style recommendations.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of firearms, ammunition, and accessories; contribute to other OSG outlets (print, TV/broadcast video, social, digital video) as directed.
Attend recurring directive meetings and travel for trade shows/meetings as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, or related field, or equivalent editorial work experience.
Minimum 2+ years of experience in the shooting industry.
Ability to write and edit on tight deadlines; strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to conduct interviews for stories.
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and resolve complex problems.
Working knowledge of the Associated Press Stylebook.
Experience with Microsoft Office.
Experience assigning editorial content to contributors and budget tracking.
Strong SEO skills and familiarity with web traffic metrics.
Preferred: photo-editing software experience (e.g., Adobe Photoshop); technical knowledge of HTML and web publishing; knowledge of social media marketing.
Must be legally qualified to own firearms.
Gun club membership or other access to areas for firearm testing and photography.
Conditions
Location: Remote.
Employment type: Full-time, salaried, exempt.
Schedule: May require evenings and weekends as needed.
Travel: Willingness to travel 3–4 times per year for up to a week at a time.
