The Sr. Director, National Accounts - Small Format leads national retail relationships and manages a team of National Account Managers to drive enterprise growth. The role translates corporate strategy into actionable customer plans and aligns cross-functional execution across assigned channels.
What you'll do
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of National Account Managers to deliver executional excellence and customer satisfaction.
- Manage performance management, professional development, and succession planning for the National Accounts team.
- Oversee assigned national customer portfolios and lead strategic engagements with buyers and senior retail leaders.
- Develop and execute joint business plans (volume forecasts, investment strategies, promotional calendars, and in-store execution standards).
- Translate corporate priorities into tailored customer programs and ensure continuity between national strategy and retail execution.
- Collaborate with Finance, Marketing, Field Sales, and Operations on pricing, promotions, and supply chain efficiency.
- Partner with DSD network and distribution leadership to close execution gaps and identify growth opportunities.
- Own forecasting for assigned accounts, incorporating field inputs and aligning with supply planning/commercialization.
- Analyze performance using syndicated data and reporting tools to identify trends, generate insights, and adjust plans.
- Provide performance updates to executive leadership and recommend strategic adjustments based on marketplace trends.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in national or regional account management or sales leadership within CPG or beverage, including team management.
- Proven ability to manage and grow large-format or convenience channel retail accounts.
- Experience working cross-functionally in matrixed organizations (Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, Field Sales).
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Strong command of retail analytics and reporting tools (IRI, Nielsen, Power BI) and sales reporting systems.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License and ability to pass an MVR screening.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
- Must live within 1 hour of a major international airport.
Conditions
Employment type: Full-time.
Work arrangement: Remote (open to fully remote candidates).
Travel: Up to 50% domestic travel (also noted as ~40% including multi-day overnight travel).
