Director-Special Events and Marketing

Summary

Mount Sinai Morningside is seeking a Director of Special Events and Marketing to lead event strategy and marketing initiatives for the Department of Medical Education. This role develops and delivers high-profile events and integrated marketing/communications programs that engage faculty, students, and community stakeholders while aligning with health system priorities.

What you'll do

  • Provide strategic leadership for special events, marketing, and communications plans aligned with departmental and system priorities.
  • Oversee end-to-end project management for events and marketing deliverables (timelines, resources, stakeholders, scope changes, risks, budgets).
  • Lead planning and execution of high-profile student and faculty events and key institutional ceremonies (e.g., Orientation, White Coat Ceremony, Graduation, Match Day).
  • Manage departmental brand presence and consistency across digital platforms in alignment with system brand guidelines.
  • Partner with internal teams, vendors, and creative agencies to produce digital, print, and video collateral; ensure quality and objective alignment.
  • Conceptualize events including purpose, audience, pricing strategy, themes, location, timeline, and run of show.
  • Develop and optimize digital marketing campaigns; monitor performance and recommend improvements based on analytics.
  • Serve as liaison/primary point of contact for stakeholders and coordinate with system Marketing & Communications and Development/Special Events.
  • Manage vendor sourcing and relationships for venues, catering, design, photography, and video; manage contracts and deliverables.
  • Build and manage the special events function by hiring/training staff, supervising one staff member, and leading volunteer teams.
  • Track and report on campaign effectiveness, project status, and key metrics; support additional special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field (preferred).

  • Experience: 3–5 years in marketing, project management, or communications.

  • Experience: 3–5 years in event programming, management, and production.

  • Preferred experience in higher education or non-profit marketing.

  • Strong project management skills and ability to run multiple concurrent initiatives.

  • Experience with digital marketing strategy, social media integration, and website content management.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and quality control.

  • Demonstrated collaboration and relationship management with vendors and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

Conditions

  • Compensation: Salary range listed as $86,772–$150,000 annually (bonuses/incentives and other compensation/benefits not included in the posted range).
