Basketball and Football Communications Associate

Summary

The New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Pelicans are seeking a Basketball & Football Communications Associate as part of a 10-month, intern-level Associate Program supporting both NFL and NBA seasons. This role assists the communications teams with day-to-day media operations, event execution, and production of media materials to support coverage of both teams.

What you'll do

  • Prepare, maintain, and distribute daily media/news clips for both teams
  • Monitor and track local and national media coverage
  • Write, edit, and produce media materials (press releases, game notes, flip cards, media guides, rosters, interview transcripts, postseason publications)
  • Research and maintain statistical information for internal and external use
  • Assist with interview requests and transcribe media availabilities
  • Support credentialing for league events, practices, training camps, drafts, and games
  • Assist with media room setup/breakdown and game day operations
  • Help execute communications plans for games, press conferences, drafts, practices, and community/alumni events
  • Prepare and distribute media packets for visiting teams and approved media
  • Provide on-site communications support during basketball and football events as needed
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by communications staff

Requirements

  • Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with QuarkXPress (preferred)
  • Proficiency across social media platforms
  • Working knowledge of NBA and NFL, basketball/football terminology, and statistics
  • Above-average understanding of football and basketball statistics and ability to identify milestones/trends (preferred)
  • Ability to multitask independently with limited supervision
  • Professional demeanor; ability to work effectively with players, staff, media, and external partners
  • Ability to assist with event setup/breakdown including lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during events and office work

Conditions

  • 10-month, full-time, paid Associate Program role (intern-level)
  • Program dates: June 4, 2026 through April 16, 2027
  • Start date: June 4, 2026
  • Full-time, hourly, non-exempt
  • Work schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays based on team schedules
