Summary
Taconic Biosciences is a global provider of genetically engineered research models and services across mouse and rat models, microbiome research, and immuno-oncology. The Scientific Solutions Consultant serves as the scientific interface to customers, supporting the sales cycle by designing high-impact in vivo study approaches and positioning Taconic solutions to meet research needs.
What you'll do
- Serve as the scientific interface between Taconic and current/prospective customers, articulating offerings and value proposition to external and internal stakeholders.
- Support the sales cycle from lead qualification through closing by providing scientific and technical expertise aligned to customer needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues to win new customers, expand market share, and increase utilization of Taconic products and services.
- Support Sales territory strategy and technical prospecting, including conference preparation/attendance and customer alignment to Taconic solutions.
- Lead as subject matter expert in customer discussions, representing Taconic capabilities and scientific rationale.
- Contribute to identification, development, and implementation of new products and services.
- Develop and review custom project designs to ensure they are well-conceived, risks are mitigated, and feasibility is appropriately assessed.
- Ensure deliverables, timelines, budgets, and expectations are clearly defined and aligned with customers.
- Act as a gatekeeper to decline customer proposals/requests when not justified by capabilities or probability of success.
- Travel frequently, including overnight travel, as a primary job responsibility.
Requirements
- Doctoral degree (PhD) in biology, chemistry, animal science, genetics, or related field, or Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).
- Experience with principles and methodology of experimental science and laboratory practice, including developing, executing, and leading specialized technical projects.
- Strong foundation in in vivo research; ideally experience in translational science, disease modeling, or drug development.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strategic, solution-oriented, customer-first mindset.
- Prior experience in scientific consulting, technical sales, or project design is a plus (not required).
- Preferred location: West Coast.
